may 15 2026Real Madrid is in advanced negotiations to bring in Omer Yurtseven for the final stretch of the season, according to BasketNews. The 27-year-old Turkish center would arrive to bolster the white team's interior rotation in the ACB playoffs, at a delicate moment for Sergio Scariolo's squad following injuries to Edy Tavares and Alex Len.
The deal has an important caveat: Yurtseven cannot be registered for the EuroLeague, so he would only be available for domestic competition. Nonetheless, Madrid considers it a priority to add physical presence and depth in the paint as they pursue the league title.
The Turkish big man started the season at Panathinaikos, where he posted solid numbers in the EuroLeague before finishing the campaign between the NBA G League and the Golden State Warriors organization. With the Greek club, he averaged 6.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in less than 13 minutes per game, though his impact grew when he received more playing time during the first half of the season.
In fact, over his first 18 EuroLeague games in 2024/25, he posted 8.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in just 15 minutes, shooting a notable 67% from the field.
After leaving Europe, Yurtseven joined the Golden State organization. He appeared in nine games with the Warriors, averaging 3.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 12 minutes.
His best performance came on April 2 against the San Antonio Spurs, when he recorded 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. In the G League, he also delivered dominant performances, averaging 23 points, 13.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks over a three-game stretch.
Real Madrid, which finished as the regular season leader in the ACB and is preparing for its EuroLeague Final Four semifinal against Valencia Basket, is looking to secure interior muscle to close out the season with confidence. Yurtseven is currently the chosen target to fill that immediate need.
