Real Madrid to Continue in EuroLeague for 2026/27 Season

Real Madrid is set to continue in the EuroLeague during the 2026/27 season, according to reports from AS. The decision keeps the Spanish club in Europe's top competition and confirms the continuity of all shareholder clubs in the tournament for the upcoming season.

The Madrid-based club was the last shareholder pending renewal before the June 30 deadline. With this move, Real Madrid avoids a possible exit clause, retains its status as a full member, and maintains both its voting rights and revenue from the audiovisual distribution.

Real Madrid's continuity comes at a crucial moment for the future of European basketball. The EuroLeague is working on a new long-term franchise model, while the NBA and FIBA continue to advance the NBA Europe project, which is scheduled to launch for the 2027/28 season.

The point still to be clarified is the exact duration of Real Madrid's commitment to the EuroLeague. As a shareholder club, the standard proposal on the table would be a ten-year license, with an exit clause close to 10 million euros.

On the sporting side, Real Madrid finished the 2025/26 EuroLeague regular season in third place with a record of 24-14 and reached the Final Four after defeating Hapoel Tel Aviv in the playoffs. The team coached by Sergio Scariolo finished as runners-up in Athens after losing to Olympiacos in the final.
