Amida Brimah Joins Río Breogán as New Reinforcement

Río Breogán has secured reinforcement for their frontcourt. The Lugo-based club has closed the signing of Amida Brimah, who will arrive in Lugo this Monday. The club has not yet made an official announcement.

The move comes as a replacement for Aleksa Ilic. The Montenegrin center, Breogán's first signing of the summer, was already dealing with issues heading into Sunday's Galician derby against Monbus Obradoiro, and his absence has been confirmed in recent hours. Neither the club nor the local press have detailed the injury.

A defensive specialist

Brimah is a center with a strong defensive profile. He stands out for his timing on blocks and his ability to intimidate near the rim, and can also switch on defense against shooters. On offense, his game is based on finishing above the rim and close to the basket. That profile already made him stand out at UConn, where he won the NCAA championship in 2014, and in the G League, where he is the all-time leader in blocks.

A familiar face in Liga Endesa

The Ghanaian will not need much adaptation. He made his ACB debut with Manresa in 2024, later played for Valencia Basket, and last season played for Covirán Granada, where he averaged 4.7 points in 12 minutes across 25 games. He had previously played in the NBA (five games with the Indiana Pacers), for Partizan, Oostende, and Bourg.

Ilic, 29, arrived this summer from SC Derby Podgorica, where he averaged 15.2 points and 8 rebounds last season.
