The Los Angeles Lakers continue to strengthen their frontcourt and have completed the acquisition of Sandro Mamukelashvili. According to Shams Charania, the Georgian power forward/center has reached an agreement for four seasons and $52 million, with a player option for the fourth year.

Mamukelashvili comes off playing the 2025/26 season with the Toronto Raptors, where he had the best year of his career. He averaged 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, with a notable 52.3% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range, numbers that explain the strong interest he generated on the market.

His arrival gives the Lakers a modern big man, capable of spacing the floor, playing power forward or center, and providing offensive continuity without needing much ball handling. It's not a minor signing: the contract is significant and fully guaranteed, a clear signal of the franchise's confidence in his development.

For Los Angeles, Mamukelashvili represents a rotation piece with size, mobility and outside shooting. In a team that needed more resources in the paint and better spacing, the Georgian arrives to occupy a relevant role from day one.
