The Texas franchise receives the Spanish power forward and the rights to Tarik Biberovic, while Memphis gets AJ Johnson, a protected first-round pick from the Golden State Warriors in 2030, and two future second-round picks.
The Warriors' first-round pick in 2030 is protected 1-20. If it doesn't convey, it becomes a second-round pick. For Memphis, the move represents continuing to accumulate draft capital while preserving their full $29 million trade exception from the Jaren Jackson Jr. deal.
Aldama joins Dallas after playing the 2025-26 season with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he averaged 14 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He also shot 47.9% from the field and 35% from three-point range, establishing himself as a versatile, stretch big capable of providing offensive production from multiple areas of the floor.
For the Mavericks, the signing adds size, shooting, and mobility to their frontcourt rotation. Aldama can play as a stretch four, contribute on the glass, and fit well with a team seeking more versatility around its core stars.
