Sergio de Larrea will take his first step into the NBA environment this summer. The Valencia Basket point guard will play in the Summer League with Dallas Mavericks, the franchise that holds his rights after the Draft, according to Marc Stein.
The Valladolid-born player was selected 24th overall by the New York Knicks and subsequently traded to Dallas. His presence in the summer league will serve as a first contact with American basketball and as a test within the Mavericks' context.
De Larrea arrives at this stage after a historic season with Valencia Basket, in which he won the ACB Supercup, the Liga Endesa championship, and reached the EuroLeague Final Four. A season that has boosted his projection and definitively placed him on the NBA radar.
The Summer League will begin on July 4, although Dallas Mavericks will make their debut on July 10 against the Golden State Warriors. It will be an important opportunity for De Larrea to begin showcasing his talent to NBA coaches, executives, and opponents.
