Burgos arrived at that moment running on fumes. It was their third road game in a week, and in the final stretch it showed. Before that, Porfi Fisac's team had done more than enough to win. They led in the first quarter (19-20), with a three-pointer from Audige putting them ahead, and went into halftime up one (44-45). By then they had already responded to Bilbao's first run: a three-pointer from Dani Díez tied it at 28 and the outside shot gave them back the advantage.

Third quarter belongs to Bilbao

The game changed hands after the break. Surne Bilbao strung together several three-pointers, went up nine (63-54) and forced Fisac to call a timeout. The third quarter was their best stretch (30-25), but Burgos didn't fall out of it: they entered the fourth quarter down four (74-70) and Doumbouya, their leading scorer with 15 points, cut it to two right away.

The Bilbao side pulled away again, first with a 78-72 lead and then with an 85-76 that looked decisive. It wasn't. Burgos found the energy for one last push and tied it at 85. That's when they ran out of gas. Surne Bilbao didn't miss in the crucial moments and closed out the game without Burgos scoring anything more than one basket.

Hilliard, with 15 points, was the leading scorer for a well-balanced Bilbao, with six players scoring above eight points: Normantas added 14, Krampelj 13, and Frey 10. For Burgos, who suffer their second loss of the season, Doumbouya was accompanied by Steward and Koprivica, with 12 points each, and Radosavljevic, with 11.
