New addition to the Canary Islands project! La Laguna Tenerife has secured the services of TJ Bamba for the 2026-27 season.
The new black-and-gold player, a 6'5" wing, arrives from Rasta Vechta of the German Bundesliga, where last season he averaged 12.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists; and competed in both the domestic league (his team fell in the quarterfinals to Alba Berlin, who went on to win the championship) and the FIBA Europe Cup.
Born in the Bronx, New York (1/6/2001), Ahmed Tijani (TJ) Bamba spent part of his childhood in Senegal before returning to the United States and joining high school, later building a notable college career in the NCAA, including stints with Washington State Cougars (2020-23), Villanova (23-24) and Oregon Ducks (24-25), where he earned a spot on the Big Ten Conference 'All-Defensive Team'.
After going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, he made the jump to Europe that summer to sign with German side Rasta Vechta and put together a standout season in his first year as a professional outside the United States. This summer he competed in the NBA Summer League with the Denver Nuggets; and last summer he did the same with the Brooklyn Nets.
