Tyrese Martin Joins Barcelona with Multi-Year Deal Through 2027

FC Barcelona has signed American wing Tyrese Martin to a contract through June 30, 2027. The 27-year-old, 6'6" player can also play shooting guard and brings elite athleticism and perimeter talent to the club in his first European experience.

Tyrese has developed as a professional across 181 games between the G League (59) and NBA (122), debuting with the Atlanta Hawks. He subsequently played the majority of his games with the Brooklyn Nets and finished with a brief stint with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on March 7, 1999, the American arrives in Barcelona to provide versatility to the team, with a strong three-point threat and excellent athleticism for defense and rebounding intensity. A talented player capable of offering multiple resources in Barcelona's perimeter game who will occupy a non-EU roster spot.

Early Career Path
His first steps came at his hometown high school, where he averaged 21.3 points and 11.4 rebounds in his final year, earning Eastern Pennsylvania Conference MVP honors and winning a state championship. He attended Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia before moving to college, playing for the Universities of Rhode Island (2018-20) and Connecticut (2020-22).

NBA Jump with the Atlanta Hawks
In summer 2022, he was selected 51st overall in the NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors, who traded him to the Atlanta Hawks. In his first season, he appeared in 16 games, averaging 4.1 minutes per game and 1.3 points. The rest of the year he played for the affiliate team, the College Park Skyhawks of the G League, appearing in 23 games with averages of 18 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 34 minutes of play. The following season he played the entire year with the Iowa Wolves, the Minnesota Timberwolves' affiliate, recording averages of 17.8 points, 8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 33 games.

Best Stretch with the Brooklyn Nets
Under Catalan coach Jordi Fernández, Martin appeared in 97 games with the Brooklyn Nets. In the 2024/25 season he played 60 games, averaging 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2 assists and 35.1% from three-point range in 21.9 minutes of play. He also had his best NBA game on November 27, 2024, against the Phoenix Suns, with 30 points and 8 three-pointers made on 10 attempts, his personal record. Last season he appeared in 37 games, averaging 3.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 18.8 minutes on the floor, before being released by the New York franchise in February.

Final Stop Before the Move to Europe
His last stop before arriving in Barcelona saw him play 9 games with the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 2.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1 assist in 9 minutes of play. In the G League he played just 3 games, averaging 31 points, 9.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 56.8% from the free-throw line with the Delaware Blue Coats.
