Spain's U18 Women's Team completed an incredible week in Stockholm and claimed the European Championship title. The final against France was another masterclass from Spain, who left their opponents no chance and achieved a historic feat for Spanish basketball.
For the first time in their history, Spain's U18 Women's Team has successfully defended the European Championship title they won last summer in La Palma. Spain dominated the tournament with authority from the opening game and, in the final, once again demonstrated why they have boasted both the best offense and best defense.
With the support of FEB President Elisa Aguilar in Stockholm, the Spanish team gave France no opportunities, starting with a 0-9 run. Despite France's comeback attempt, Spain stuck to their game plan and the lead grew significantly as the minutes passed. At halftime, Spain was already ahead by 25 points (24-49).
Nothing changed after the break as Isaac Fernández's team controlled the game completely and enjoyed themselves before the final celebration. Somto Okafor, named tournament MVP, once again led Spain's offense with 17 points. The Spanish wing was perfectly supported by a team where every player knows their role and executes it flawlessly. They have done so in every single game of this Eurobasket.
