UCAM Murcia Refuses to Release David DeJulius Despite Besiktas Announcement

Por ·

David DeJulius's signing by Besiktas does not resolve the conflict with UCAM Murcia—it reopens it. The Turkish club has officially announced the American point guard's arrival and the player has said goodbye to the Murcia team on social media, but Murcia maintains a different stance: DeJulius does not have a release letter.

UCAM has responded with a firm statement reminding that no agreement has been reached for the player's departure. For this reason, the club believes it is not appropriate to release him and warns that it will continue defending its rights both before FIBA and through legal channels.

The case stems from weeks ago. Murcia had already warned that there was a continuity agreement with DeJulius and that the player could not leave without first resolving his contractual situation. Now, Besiktas's announcement adds a new chapter to a matter that still seems far from over.

The sporting aspect also explains Murcia's frustration. DeJulius was one of the team's key references last season, averaging 17.7 points, 4.4 assists, 1.8 rebounds and a rating of 16.6 in the Liga Endesa. His departure, beyond being important on the court, has an obvious impact on the club's planning.

Besiktas is already presenting him as a signing. The player is already saying goodbye. But UCAM Murcia insists it has not authorized his departure.
