Oriol Paulí Leads Lleida to Dominant Victory Over Barcelona (90-80)

Hiopos Lleida delivered an impressive performance on Sunday morning, defeating Barcelona 90-80. Gerard Encuentra's squad, led by former Barcelona player Oriol Paulí (27 points), suffocated the Blaugrana offense and earned a well-deserved victory. The Barris Nord crowd enjoyed their team's effort as Lleida secured their tenth win and moved away from the relegation zone.

statistics

Hiopos Lleida's start was outstanding. Playing at a high pace with accurate three-pointers, Encuentra's team dominated an overwhelmed Barcelona. After a fast-break basket by James Batemon (5 points), the Segre squad led 15-6 at the five-minute mark.

Xavi Pascual, frustrated with his team, called a timeout. The introduction of Satoransky and Darío Brizuela (7 points) brought more dynamism to the Blaugrana offense, and Barcelona began closing the gap. Despite this, the first quarter went to the home team 24-21.

Barcelona started the second quarter better. A motivated Willy Hernangómez (6 points) dominated the paint, and the Blaugrana turned the score around (28-32 at the 13-minute mark).

This second period was incredibly balanced and beautiful to watch. Melvin Ejim (9 points) was the offensive beacon for Encuentra's squad, who stayed competitive (38-40 at the 18-minute mark).

In the final stretch before halftime, Will Clyburn's (10 points) class appeared. His shooting efficiency left the visitors up five (41-46 at the 20-minute mark). Everything remained wide open heading into the second half.

After the break, we continued to see a very competitive game. Past the midpoint of the third quarter, the Barris Nord erupted with joy at their team's play. Hiopos Lleida regained the initiative with a 19-8 run. Encuentra's squad, led by Oriol Paulí (15 points) and James Batemon (13 points), took control. After a three-pointer by the latter, the Segre team led 60-54 at the 26-minute mark. Barcelona appeared knocked out.

Xavi Pascual regrouped his players, who stopped the bleeding on defense. However, Hiopos Lleida entered the final quarter with a 65-61 advantage.

The home team's performance in the final period was excellent. A three-pointer by Oriol Paulí (22 points) and a spectacular dunk by Ejim extended the lead for Encuentra's squad (72-63 at the 33-minute mark).

Barcelona couldn't find their three-point range and watched as, play by play, the game slipped away. Lleida's lead grew to fourteen (80-66) and Xavi Pascual couldn't find the solution to reverse the situation.

Darío Brizuela (20 points) was the only Blaugrana player showing resistance. A three-point play by him brought the Culés closer (82-76 at the 38-minute mark). But that was the extent of Barcelona's resistance, as Hiopos Lleida claimed the 90-80 victory with a completely fired-up Barris Nord crowd.
