Por ·

Valencia Basket faced Baxi Ferrol in the fourth matchday of the LF Endesa. Both teams entered with a 2-1 record. Additionally, both squads came off European competition losses: Valencia Basket fell at home to Fenerbahçe (EuroLeague) and Ferrol lost in Athens to Olympiacos (EuroCup).

First Quarter: 20-12
To start the game, Valencia Basket lined up: Leticia Romero, Helena Pueyo, Elizabeth Balogun, María Araújo and Kamila Borkowska. The Galician side started with: Esther Castedo, Sydney Shaw, Iva Belosević, Maggie Doogan and Claire Melia. The game began lively, with a three-pointer from Araújo, answered by two from Maggie Doogan. Borkowska started causing damage inside, getting the better of Melia in their individual matchup. Several defensive lapses from Ferrol created an ideal scenario for Balogun and Pueyo to extend the home advantage. When the "orange" side touched a 10-point lead, Shaw and Melia took control of the game and began punishing the lack of defensive intensity to make it 10-6.

Jenkins dispelled doubts from beyond the arc, and after Alicia Flórez entered, the home team raised their intensity a notch. Sotolová answered back, preventing Valencia from pulling further ahead on the scoreboard. Heading into the end of the quarter, Leticia Romero, Araújo and Galíčková shone through the chaos of the final minutes to close it at 20-12.

Second Quarter: 37-25
After a strong Valencia start (4-0 run), Lino López called timeout. The home side had surpassed a 10-point lead for the first time, forcing many turnovers and capitalizing on Ferrol's mistakes. Despite the timeout, Valencia continued to wreak havoc on Ferrol's defense. Marta Suárez secured an and-one with ease, and the Asturian continued her work: another three-pointer for 30-15.

Minutes passed and the university team couldn't find their rhythm. Torralba gave minutes to Marina Bleda, who contributed significantly on defense. Although they did score more, Ferrol couldn't close the gap with Valencia. Both teams had recurring defensive breakdowns inside, where most of the points were coming from. Finally, the quarter ended with a basket from Doogan that slightly closed the gap for the Artabrians: 37-25.

Third Quarter: 62-36
After halftime, Valencia returned much stronger. They imposed their will with an opening 10-5 run. Lino López called the first timeout of the second half after another turnover from his team that resulted in a Pueyo basket. Midway through the quarter, Alicia Flórez made the perfect play: steal, basket and drew the foul. A three-point play that confirmed Ferrol couldn't match the "orange" pace. Another turnover from the Galicians, a transition basket from Takács-Kiss and López called timeout again: 55-30 with 4:46 left in the period.

Galíčková reduced the deficit with a three-pointer from the top, but the feeling didn't improve. Even Alisia Jenkins joined the party from outside, posting the game's high from three-point range: 59-33. The third quarter concluded with a score of 62-36.

Fourth Quarter: 87-50
With the game decided, it was clear the "orange" side began to enjoy themselves even more. Flórez contributed from three and made it +30. When substituted, she left to a standing ovation from the crowd. Gradually, Valencia increased the margin to a final 37-point differential. Finally, the game ended with an orange-tinted victory at 87-50.
