Last-Second Heroics, Individual Brilliance, and Casademont Zaragoza One Step Away from Final Playoff Seeding

Lointek Gernika, Joventut Badalona, and Kutxabank Araski all secured dramatic last-second victories on a night when Mariam Coulibaly led the way with an outstanding 49-point performance. The midweek action reshuffled the playoff race, leaving Casademont Zaragoza just one win away from clinching the top seed in LF Endesa with three games remaining.

Only 120 minutes of regular season play remain for each team, and the race for playoff positioning and survival has never been more wide open. The midweek matchday intensified both the battle for the playoffs and the fight to avoid relegation, with Casademont Zaragoza now on the verge of securing the top seed in the competition.

The midweek slate opened with a thrilling Basque Country derby that delivered all the drama expected from such a rivalry. IDK Euskotren came out firing with Robinson and Ejim leading the charge, hitting four three-pointers and building a double-digit lead by the end of the first quarter. But Lucas Fernández's squad completely turned the tide in the second quarter, with Ane Olaeta orchestrating the offense and Masa Jankovic finding her rhythm from mid-range. The teams traded blows throughout the remainder of regulation, with Bessoir tying the game from the free-throw line before Remenarova's miss sent the game to overtime. In the extra period, the script repeated itself—Salvadores made two free throws, but María Eraunzetamurgil's potential game-winner was rejected by Masa Jankovic's block (72-73).

The result kept Lointek Gernika out of the relegation zone, mirroring the fate of their neighbors Kutxabank Araski, who pulled off their own road victory in the final seconds. Perfumerías Avenida controlled much of the first half but couldn't put away the visitors, who seized momentum in the second half. The decisive plays came from Hill and Toussaint down the stretch (68-72). Joventut Badalona also grabbed a last-second win when Laia Lamana prevented overtime against Hozono Global Jairis, while Cadí La Seu surprised Durán Maquinaria Ensino at home with a dominant defensive performance (71-61).

It was a difficult night for most playoff contenders, with only the top three teams avoiding disaster. Valencia Basket cruised past BAXI Ferrol behind Leo Fiebich's excellence (85-74), Spar Girona dominated Movistar Estudiantes with Mariam Coulibaly's 49-point masterclass (88-58), and Casademont Zaragoza moved closer to the top seed with a dominant home win over Innova-TSN Leganés (73-50).
