On Friday, July 24, the Spanish Basketball Federation announced the official roster for its preparation tour ahead of the 2026 Germany World Cup. The announcement was made at the HM Hospitales Sanchinarro auditorium.

The Women's National Team begins its path to the World Cup with the preparation tour 'We Return to Dream,' which will take them to play five friendly games before the championship during August. The women's basketball team will travel through Germany (Ludwig) and Spain (Tenerife and Zaragoza) on this tour. The team led by head coach Miguel Méndez returns to a World Cup eight years after their last participation in Tenerife 2018, where they won the bronze medal.

This time, the World Cup will be held in Germany (Berlin) from September 4-13. The National Team will fight to win the fourth world medal in the history of the women's team. To achieve this, the national head coach, his coaching staff, and the Spanish Basketball Federation have designed a preparation plan that will take them to Zaragoza, Tenerife, and Germany.

The national teams they will face on this tour are: Germany, Belgium (current European champions), Nigeria, China, and Mali. Two of these five opponents (Germany and Mali) will also be rivals of the Spanish team in Group A of the World Cup. The other team they must beat to advance will be Japan. The winners of each group will advance directly to the quarterfinals. The runners-up and third-place finishers will play a single-elimination round of 16.

The official presentation of the called-up players was made through a video created with generative artificial intelligence. The players who will compete in this preparation tour are: Alba Torrens, Txell Alarcón, María Aráujo, Aina Ayuso, Elena Buenavida, Raquel Carrera, Maite Cazorla, María Conde, Irati Etxarri, Awa Fam, Alizia Flórez, Marta García, Paula Ginzo, Carolina Guerrero, Megan Gustafson, Nerea Hermosa, Iyana Martín, Mariona Ortiz, Lola Pendade, Helena Pueyo, and Andrea Vilaró.

These are the 21 names of the players selected from the preliminary roster of the Spanish Women's Basketball National Team for the 2026 Germany World Cup. Among these names, five correspond to WNBA players who will join the national team directly in Berlin; therefore, they will not participate in this preparation tour due to their commitments with their franchises in the U.S. basketball league.

During the roster announcement, head coach Miguel Méndez expressed his excitement about this team not only in the present but also for the future with great prospects like Iyana Martín and Awa Fam, who will use this stage to continue growing and demonstrating the great potential they possess.
