jul 14 2026Dubai Basketball has announced the signing of head coach Xavi Pascual, who has signed through the 2028/29 season. The Catalan coach will lead a roster built to compete immediately in European basketball.
Pascual arrives after a brief second stint at Barcelona, where he returned in November 2025 and led the team to the Liga Endesa final and the EuroLeague Play-In. Now he takes on one of the most ambitious projects in the market.
Pascual has a top-tier track record on European benches. In his first stint at Barcelona, he won the 2010 EuroLeague title, along with four Liga Endesa championships and three Copa del Rey titles. He also coached Panathinaikos, with whom he won the Greek championship, and Zenit, where he captured the VTB League in 2022.
In EuroLeague, he has accumulated 256 wins and 129 losses, a 66.5% winning percentage, and is one of the coaches who reached 100 victories in the competition fastest.
In Dubai, he will reunite with Dwayne Bacon, whom he previously coached at Zenit and who was named VTB League MVP in 2025 under his direction. A reunion that reinforces the idea of a project with big names, significant investment, and major ambitions.
Dubai is not just signing a coach. It is signing structure, experience, and a proven winning formula.
