ACB Players Subject to Right of First Refusal

ACB clubs have registered 14 players on the right of first refusal list. Starting Monday, July 6, there is a 13-day period for clubs to submit qualifying offers. Original clubs will have 5 days to decide whether to match these offers

Once the deadline for submitting qualifying offers has passed, the ACB announces on Monday, July 6, the list of players whose signing is subject to the right of first refusal by their original club, as well as those players who received a qualifying offer previously and have communicated their intention to return to ACB competitions for the 2026-27 season.

In accordance with the hiring procedure established in the IV Collective Agreement, the 13-day period to submit qualifying offer documents for those players subject to the right of first refusal will end on Saturday, July 18.

Clubs interested in any player included on the list must submit the offer document to the ACB, which will forward it to the original club the next day, so that within 5 calendar days it may exercise, if it wishes, its right of extension.

Consult the list of players subject to right of first refusal and those who have communicated their intention to return to ACB competitions.

After presenting the corresponding qualifying offers to these players, the clubs holding their rights have decided to opt for one of the following options under Article 17.2 of the IV Collective Agreement:

(1) That it does not maintain the qualifying offer it made previously, in which case the player will be free to sign with any other Club/SAD.

(2) That it maintains said qualifying offer, which obligates it under the terms of section 14.6, that is, if the player does not receive any offer from a third Club/SAD, the original Club/SAD will extend the contract it had with him, adding the conditions of its qualifying offer. This option will also allow the original Club/SAD to match any offer presented by a third Club/SAD, even if that offer is lower, that is, less than its own ratified offer.

(3) That it is interested in the player, but will wait to see the offer from a third Club/SAD. In this case, if the player presents such an offer, the original Club/SAD may sign him by matching that offer under the conditions and deadlines of Articles 13 and 14 of the Agreement, with an additional supplement of 10% on the gross salary of the new contract, to be paid in a single payment at the start of each season.
