ACB Playoffs: La Laguna Tenerife Stuns Real Madrid, Advances to Semifinals (95-107)

La Laguna Tenerife pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Liga Endesa playoff history, eliminating defending champion Real Madrid in the decisive Game 3 of their quarterfinal series. Txus Vidorreta's squad won at Movistar Arena 95-107 and advanced to the semifinals after winning twice on the road against the regular season leaders

The game started with Tenerife firing on all cylinders from three-point range. The island team quickly found their rhythm from beyond the arc to take early leads, though Mario Hezonja kept Real Madrid in the game during the opening minutes with his team's first ten points. The arrival of Andrés Feliz and David Kramer allowed the hosts to respond and close the first quarter with a minimal advantage (24-23).

Parity remained throughout much of the second quarter. Aaron Doornekamp punished from the perimeter, while Kevin Yebo began to make an impact in the paint. The game's rhythm shifted with the emergence of Patty Mills, who led a run that gave the visitors control of the scoreboard. Gabriel Deck tried to keep Real Madrid in contention, but the experience of Marcelinho Huertas allowed the Tenerife squad to head into halftime with a lead (45-49).

After the break, Tenerife struck first again. A three-pointer from Huertas and a technical foul on Sergio Scariolo helped the visitors reach their largest lead to that point. However, Real Madrid responded with a more mobile lineup and managed to turn the score around. Andrés Feliz was crucial in that final stretch of the third quarter, leading the hosts into the final ten minutes with an advantage (73-70).

Just when Real Madrid seemed to have the game under control, the best version of La Laguna Tenerife emerged. Hezonja continued producing on offense, but Patty Mills, Kevin Yebo, and Marcelinho Huertas answered time and again. Back-to-back three-pointers from Huertas and Mills opened a decisive gap in the score and left the Real Madrid squad without answers as they deflated over the final minutes.

Mills delivered a stellar performance with 29 points, supported by Huertas's 23 and Yebo's 22. For Real Madrid, Hezonja led the way with 22 points, while Andrés Feliz contributed 16.

With this victory, La Laguna Tenerife secures one of the most impactful eliminations in recent Liga Endesa history, knocking out the defending champions after winning twice at Movistar Arena. Vidorreta's squad continues dreaming and now awaits their opponent in the semifinals.
