Bayern Munich needed a response after their tough loss in Belgrade, and found it in Villeurbanne. Anton Gavel's team, without Oscar da Silva and Duane Washington, defeated an ASVEL side that had just dominated Baskonia and snapped a four-game losing streak in the EuroLeague.
Even at the Break
Bayern started with more defensive intensity than in recent weeks, and Rokas Jokubaitis opened the scoring with a three-pointer. ASVEL responded with Both Gach, who scored nine of his team's first eleven points and finished as the home team's leading scorer with 18. The first two quarters were a constant back-and-forth, and the game reached halftime tied (45-45).

Wiley Breaks Open the Game in the Third Quarter
Bayern found their difference after the break. Austin Wiley became a constant problem for the French defense in the paint, and the German team won the third quarter 21-28 to enter the final period with a seven-point lead (66-73). Wiley finished with 22 points and 9 rebounds, well supported by Vladimir Lučić (18) and Justinian Jessup (14).
ASVEL Stays Close
In the fourth quarter, ASVEL gradually chipped away and even took the lead in the final minutes. But Bayern kept their composure: a favorable officiating decision in the closing moments and the solidity of their big men secured the victory. ASVEL, which had won their last two home games, falls to 4-6.
