Baskonia Advances in Pursuit of Damion Baugh to Strengthen Backcourt

Baskonia is working on signing Damion Baugh. According to reports from Chema de Lucas, the Vitoria-based club is in advanced negotiations with the American point guard, a 25-year-old player who would arrive in Europe after stints in the G League, CEBL, and BAL.

Baugh comes off an impressive season with Valley Suns, Phoenix's G League affiliate. There he averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8 assists and 2.1 steals in 34 games—numbers that speak to a perimeter player with high ball-handling responsibilities, playmaking ability, and physical presence on both ends of the floor.

His year also featured a historic moment in the BAL, the African league backed by the NBA. There he became the first player to record a triple-double in the competition and also set the record for assists in a single game with 18. Statistics that reinforce a clear idea: Baugh is not just a scorer, but also capable of orchestrating and creating for others.

The point guard already had his first NBA experience last season, when he appeared in 15 games with the Charlotte Hornets on a two-way contract. In that stretch he posted 7.3 points, 3.7 assists and 1 steal per game.

For Baskonia, his potential arrival would make sense as part of a push for physicality, pace, and playmaking from the point guard position. Baugh is an aggressive player with the ability to break down defenses, push the pace, contribute on the boards, and apply pressure on passing lanes.
