Besiktas had the game in hand, squandered it, and won it back. The Istanbul side defeated FC Bayern Munich 95-87 in one of the strangest EuroLeague games of the season. Leading by 28 points midway through the third quarter, they allowed Bayern to tie it with six minutes left before Scottie Wilbekin stepped up to seal the victory.
Half an hour of Turkish dominance
The game remained close until the 8-minute mark. There, three-pointers from Omoruyi, Furkan Korkmaz, and Wilbekin opened up the first double-digit lead (26-15), and the first quarter ended 26-17. Bayern had a defensive problem they couldn't solve, and Nowell capitalized to keep adding points. At halftime, the scoreboard read 53-35.
The trend continued after the break. Besiktas reached 69-41 midway through the third quarter and the game appeared over. Some Bayern starters sat on the bench, as if the Bavarian team had given up the night.
Bayern's 6-34 run
What came next was the opposite. Besiktas stopped scoring, and Bayern strung together a 0-17 run through the end of the third quarter (69-58), fueled by turnovers from the home team. In the fourth quarter they maintained the pace. With Vladimir Lucic and Oscar da Silva leading the way, they completed a 6-34 run in nine minutes that left the score tied at 75 with about six minutes remaining.

Wilbekin takes control
With the arena silent, Besiktas took a deep breath. Conor Morgan provided solutions near the basket and Wilbekin assumed responsibility in the critical moment. After Bayern got within two points (78-76), a 6-0 run led by the American point guard restored the cushion for the home team. A dunk by Nowell in the final minutes finished energizing the crowd. Bayern had no strength left for a second comeback.
