Best's Three-Pointer Keeps Andorra's ACB Dreams Alive with 97-99 Victory at Río Breogán

Aaron Best hit a clutch three-pointer with just one second remaining as MoraBanc Andorra pulled off a stunning road victory at Río Breogán (97-99) on Saturday, keeping their ACB survival hopes alive while extending the agony for the home team, who squandered a golden opportunity to secure their place in the top division.

The Lugo side dominated for most of the game and enjoyed a 13-point lead, but Justin McKoy's explosive fourth-quarter performance rescued Andorra, who showed great patience on their final possession to find Best completely open in the corner.

The game remained tight until the home team struck early in the third quarter with an 8-0 run that forced Zan Tabak to call a timeout (56-47).

Breogán punished Andorra with their offensive rebounding—Luis Casimiro's team had accumulated 13 points off offensive boards by that point—and their impressive three-point shooting, with Aranitovic and Andric showing their range. Casimiro's squad threatened to run away with it (62-50, 70-57), but Andorra showed resilience and had two three-point attempts from Castañeda to cut it to six. The American missed both, and Breogán restored their 13-point advantage (74-61).

Tabak's team needed to rediscover the defensive intensity they had shown in the second quarter to dream of victory in Lugo. And they did exactly that in the crucial fourth quarter. Starting with a 2-7 run, the Pazo fell silent. Casimiro had no choice but to call a timeout as his team's lead shrunk to six with less than eight minutes remaining (79-73).

A defensive steal led to Aaron Best's three-pointer to tighten the scoreboard further, though Croatian Dominik Mavra provided some relief before a second technical foul on Jordan Sakho sent him to the bench. Three free throws awarded to Shannon Evans deepened Galicia's wound.

Andorra threatened to take the lead (82-80), but another three-pointer from the home team, this time by Brankovic, temporarily extinguished the fire as Justin McKoy was determined to prevent a Lugo victory. His three-pointer tightened the score to the maximum (90-89) with three minutes remaining. Another timeout from Casimiro. Francis Alonso provided some breathing room for Breogán, but Andorra completed their comeback. The back-and-forth exchanges maintained the suspense until the final buzzer.

Mavra made it 97-96 with 20 seconds left. Tabak called timeout. His team looked for a long possession. Evans controlled the ball before his team executed their masterpiece with Best's three-pointer. Breogán had just one second remaining. Casimiro called timeout, but Francis Alonso's shot didn't fall.
