Robinson Leads Casademont Zaragoza to Crucial Victory Over Hiopos Lleida (107-91)

Casademont Zaragoza secured an important win in their fight to avoid relegation in the Liga Endesa on Saturday, defeating Hiopos Lleida (107-91) in a vibrant matchup highlighted by an outstanding performance from Devin Robinson (27 points and 35 rating).

The sixteenth and thirteenth-place teams faced off in a crucial battle in the lower-middle section of the standings, especially significant for the home side, who came in after suffering a narrow home loss to Barcelona last week (86-92).

Against Lleida, the home team started strong, with a high-paced opening quarter in which Robinson stood out with an impressive display, scoring 9 points in just four minutes, while the Catalan squad held their own, particularly through the accuracy of Canadian Melvin Ejim.

But Casademont, beyond their offensive prowess, was also defending well—one of their major weaknesses this season—and the opening quarter closed at 24-19.

The second quarter began with the same protagonists, Ejim and Robinson, especially the American, who continued to assault the rim with spectacular dunks to post 19 points in the first 20 minutes.

With Robinson in top form and solid defense, the Aragonese squad went into halftime 12 points ahead (58-46), despite Ejim (14 points), Atoumane Diagne, and James Batemon putting in solid performances.

However, the 25 rating points from the home small forward, combined with brilliant plays from players like Marco Spissu and Bojan Dubljevic, propelled the locals to complete a first half that gave plenty of hope to the Príncipe Felipe crowd.

The second half began under a cloud due to Diagne's ankle injury after scoring, and his visible signs of pain cooled down a matchup that had been very dynamic up to that point.

Despite losing one of their most in-form players for several minutes, Lleida regrouped and managed to close the gap to eight points (67-59) midway through the third quarter, something that ultimately proved to be a mirage as Casademont closed the period at 81-67, putting the game firmly in their control.

But Gerard Encuentra's squad had not said their final word and, aided by a sluggish start from the home team, they pulled within seven points (83-76) in less than three minutes of the final quarter.

Nevertheless, Casademont kept their composure and secured an important 107-91 victory that gives them breathing room heading into the final stretch of the season.
