C.J. McCollum will continue with the Atlanta Hawks. The veteran shooting guard has agreed to a one-year extension worth $21 million, according to ESPN, in a deal that also includes a trade bonus.
McCollum arrived in Atlanta during last winter's trade deadline as part of the deal that sent Trae Young out, and quickly found his place in Quin Snyder's system. His experience, scoring ability, and offensive vision made him an important piece in stabilizing the Hawks' perimeter.
In 41 games played with the franchise, 25 of them as a starter, he averaged 18.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, proving especially valuable in the first-round playoff series against the New York Knicks.
With this extension, Atlanta ensures continuity, scoring, and veteran leadership on a roster that continues to reshape itself following Young's departure and seeks to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference.
