Cameron Hunt Joins Unicaja as Offensive Weapon

Unicaja Baloncesto has reached an agreement to sign American shooting guard Cameron Hunt for the next two seasons. The 28-year-old, 6'3" player arrives from Asisa Joventut, where he stood out as one of the Liga Endesa's leading scorers.

Offensive talent for Unicaja. The club has reached an agreement to sign American shooting guard Cameron Hunt (28 years old, 6'3") for the next two seasons. The left-handed player, arriving from Asisa Joventut, stands out for his exceptional scoring ability, capable of creating his own baskets in one-on-one situations or with effective mid-range and three-point shooting.

Last season he averaged 15.6 points in Liga Endesa with 52.6% from two-pointers, 86.8% from the free throw line, and 40.7% from three-point range, making nearly two per game, which made him the seventh-leading scorer in the competition. To that offensive arsenal he added 2.9 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 1 steal for a 13.8 rating in the 39 games he played, being key to Penya's outstanding season. In the BCL, Unicaja's new combo guard recorded 13.3 points, 3 assists, and 1.7 rebounds in the 15 games he played.

Trained at Duncanville High School and Southwestern Moundbuilders College (2015-19), where he was named 2019 NAIA Division II Player of the Year, he made the jump to professional basketball in Europe. Germany was his first destination, playing for Würzburg Baskets for three seasons (2020-23). At the end of his final season in Germany, he signed with Italian side Derthona Basket to play in the Lega Playoffs. After the competition ended, he joined French club JDA Dijon in the 2023-24 season, with whom he won the 2024 French Cup.

His strong performance in France allowed him to sign with BAXI Manresa in the 2024-25 season, making his Liga Endesa debut averaging 13.7 points with 40% from three-point range, earning Player of the Week honors in Matchday 28 thanks to 30 points, 3 assists, and 7 fouls drawn for a 33 rating against Bàsquet Girona. From there, he moved to Asisa Joventut last season, where he became the offensive reference for a team that also featured Ricky Rubio, Jabari Parker, and Ante Tomic. His season-high scoring performance came with 35 points against Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos, shooting 6-for-7 from three-point range.

With his signing, Unicaja adds scoring potential to its perimeter with a dynamic player and exceptional offensive ability.

Welcome, Cameron!
