Casademont Zaragoza Emerges as Stronger Leader After Seismic Playoff Shake-Up

LF Endesa returned to action following the Copa de la Reina, and Matchday 26 delivered maximum drama. Joventut Badalona's buzzer-beater victory over Perfumerías Avenida courtesy of Rebeca Cotano's game-winner, followed by Spar Girona's loss in Ferrol, allowed Casademont Zaragoza to take a giant step toward the regular season title.

A stellar return for LF Endesa to the court after the Copa de la Reina, with a matchday marked by emotion and parity. In it, Casademont Zaragoza took a giant leap toward the regular season title, moving to within 2 points of Spar Girona with just four games remaining on a Saturday when SPAR Gran Canaria confirmed its relegation to LF Challenge.

Valencia Basket returned to LF Endesa following their Copa de la Reina title victory last weekend, doing so with an undisputed triumph at La Paterna by 45 points. A game dominated from start to finish by Rubén Burgos's squad, with Hillsman continuing her winning ways after claiming MVP honors in Tarragona. The American center would once again lead her team with 35 points of valuation as she closed the gap in her fight for second place (66-111). The Valencian side would not waste the loss in A Malata suffered by Spar Girona, who arrived in Galician territory depleted by significant absences (Bibby, Quevedo, Canella...) in their attempt to compete against a rival with clear ideas. BAXI Ferrol knew how to wait for their moment and raised the physical intensity after the initial back-and-forth, allowing Blanca Millán to lead the departmental victory against a rival in which Coulibaly tried unsuccessfully to sustain her team (75-67).

And Casademont Zaragoza was closely monitoring all that transpired, playing their cards well on a Saturday afternoon when Carlos Cantero's team gave Kutxabank Araski no chance whatsoever. Helena Pueyo took charge, leading against a rival that began to lose ground in the second quarter and fell apart after halftime against an Aragonese squad that left Mendizorrotza as the stronger leader (59-84).

A complete playoff shake-up that reached its hottest point in the battle for fourth place, where Perfumerías Avenida lost their spot following a tough loss at the Olimpic in Badalona. One of those games that appeared controlled by Anna Montañana's squad but slipped away with the buzzer-beating shot from Rebeca Cotano, who lifted Joventut Badalona out of the relegation zone (69-67). Thus, Hozono Global Jairis took the court at Fausto Vicent with a single objective: to win and reverse their fortunes against the Salamanca side. Billy Massey was stellar in accomplishing this, setting the tone against a Cadí La Seu that never felt comfortable on offense (75-48).

Two other balanced matchups of the day came from the middle of the standings in a playoff race where Durán Maquinaria Ensino and Lointek Gernika were able to take another step forward. In the case of the Lugo side, by winning at home against Innova-TSN Leganés (69-63), and for the Basque squad, by winning on the road at Lointel Gernika (82-85). A matchday that closed with another smile for Ingeniería Ambiental CAB Estepona, who leaned on Sika Koné to secure another victory and keep their playoff hopes intact (62-53).
