Charles Bassey Returns to Warriors on One-Year Deal

Golden State Warriors have secured the continuity of Charles Bassey with a one-year contract, according to Shams Charania. The center returns to the Bay Area for his sixth NBA season.

The move comes after Quinten Post departed to Memphis Grizzlies via an offer that Golden State chose not to match. With that departure, the Warriors needed to bolster their frontcourt rotation and have turned to a player who finished last season within the franchise.

Bassey comes off a 2025/26 season split across Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics, and Golden State Warriors. In total he played 13 games, though he left a strong impression in his final stretch with the Warriors, averaging 10.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in five games.

It's not a flashy signing, but rather a useful piece to provide size, rebounding, and rim protection. Golden State loses Post, but regains a physical interior player who is still young and has room to earn minutes off the bench.

For the Warriors, it's a straightforward and logical move: addressing a need without overstretching the salary cap.
