Cole Anthony Signs with Melbourne United in Australia

Cole Anthony will play next season with Melbourne United. The Australian club has officially announced the signing of the American point guard on a one-year deal, marking one of the biggest moves in the NBL market.

Anthony, 26, arrives in Australia after six seasons in the NBA, where he played for the Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks. He was selected 15th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by Orlando following a season at North Carolina.

He is no minor player for the Australian league. Anthony has accumulated 367 NBA games, averaging 12 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. At Orlando, he had an important role in the rotation and recorded a career-high 37 points against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Melbourne is adding a point guard with scoring ability, pace, and top-level experience. Head coach Jacob Chance highlighted his ability to lead the offense, score, create for teammates, and play off-ball as well.

The player arrives with ambitious goals. Anthony said he was "very excited" to begin this chapter with Melbourne and spoke about the opportunity to continue growing and compete for the championship.

For Melbourne United, this is a significant signing. For Anthony, a different move after several years in the NBA: less American spotlight, but more responsibility and a leading role in an increasingly competitive league.
