Dallas Matches Knicks Offer to Retain Moussa Cisse

Moussa Cisse will remain with the Dallas Mavericks. The Texas franchise matched the offer sheet presented by the New York Knicks, who had agreed with the center on a two-year, $4.7 million contract.

According to Shams Charania, Dallas did not wait until the deadline and matched the proposal well before the 48 hours it had to decide. Cisse, a restricted free agent, had signed the Knicks' offer this Saturday, but the Mavericks retained the right to match it.

The contract maintains a flexible structure: the first year is only partially guaranteed and the 2027-28 season is not guaranteed. For Dallas, it's a way to maintain interior depth without taking on a significant financial commitment.

The Knicks attempted to take advantage of the player's contract situation to strengthen their frontcourt, but the Mavericks' response was immediate. Cisse will continue in Dallas, where he will continue competing for minutes as an energy big man, rebounder, and rim protector.
