Dante Exum Becomes Free Agent, EuroLeague Door Reopens

Dante Exum has officially become a free agent in the NBA after being placed on waivers by the Washington Wizards. The Australian point guard arrived at the capital franchise via a multi-team trade with the Dallas Mavericks but has been unable to debut this season due to persistent right knee complications.

In the previous season, despite dealing with physical issues, Exum appeared in 20 NBA games, averaging 8.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. With his contract situation resolved, his future remains open to both a new opportunity in the American league and a return to Europe.

With the European market on the horizon, Exum's name resurfaces in the EuroLeague. Olympiacos appears as a possible destination, particularly given the physical difficulties the Greek club has faced at the point guard position and the benefit of adding experience and versatility to the perimeter.

The Australian is well-acquainted with the competition. With FC Barcelona in the 2021-22 season, he averaged 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 17 minutes. A year later, at Partizan Belgrade (2022-23), he made a significant leap, reaching 13.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 23 minutes per game.

With the market open and his proven profile on both sides of the Atlantic, Dante Exum remains a piece to watch in the coming weeks.
