EuroCup Matchday 6: Unbeaten Clash in Jerusalem and Three Spanish Teams in Action

EuroCup returns this week with its sixth matchday split between Tuesday and Thursday. Napoli, Hapoel Jerusalem, and Aris remain unbeaten, but one of the last two will lose their streak on Wednesday. For Spanish teams, the matchday presents three very different scenarios: Manresa seeks a third straight win, Burgos attempts to escape the basement, and La Laguna Tenerife looks to maintain their group B lead.

Lietkabelis-Kids&Us Manresa: European basketball smiling

While still winless in the Liga Endesa, Manresa has strung together two victories in the EuroCup and sits at 3-2. On Wednesday (18:00), they visit Panevezys in a direct matchup between two of the four teams tied for second place in group D. Diego Ocampo's squad leads the competition in steals, with JD Notae as the primary threat: he recorded five steals in Botevgrad. Lietkabelis arrives battered after losing at home to Ulm by 18 points, shooting just 33.8% from the field. According to Slovenian media, this could be the debut day for Luka Ščuka, Manresa's new interior reinforcement.

Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos-Rostock Seawolves: A Losing Streak Must End

Burgos (1-4) arrives at their worst moment. They've lost their last four European games, the most recent at home to Zelli, and fell in Madrid on Sunday. Their Wednesday opponent (20:30), Rostock, has the same record and comes in with three straight losses, so one of the two losing streaks will end at the Coliseum. Porfirio Fisac's squad will need to stop Zach Copeland, who hit five three-pointers last week in Tortona and averages 16.6 points. Joaquín Taboada, one of Burgos's new faces, is poised for increased playing time.

La Laguna Tenerife-Cluj: Defending the Lead

La Laguna Tenerife (4-1) closes out the matchday on Thursday (21:00 on the mainland, 20:00 in the Canary Islands) against Cluj (2-3), who come in with two heavy defeats. Jaka Lakovic's squad seeks their fourth straight European victory after narrowly beating Reyer, with Kyle Guy contributing 18 points. They arrive, however, after losing in A Coruña on Saturday. In Cluj, the threat is Otis Livingston, who posted 23 points and 10 assists against Frankfurt.

Hapoel Jerusalem-Aris: The Unbeaten Showdown

The marquee matchup of the week takes place Wednesday (20:00) in Jerusalem. Hapoel and Aris both arrive 5-0 and one will lose their unbeaten record. Aris boasts the second-best offense in the competition, with Neno Dimitrijević on a roll: at least 12 points and 4 assists in each of his last four games. Hapoel counters with their physicality and a very consistent Devontae Cacok.

Napoli-Trento: The Other Unbeaten, in an Italian Derby

Napoli (5-0) risks their unbeaten record on Tuesday (20:00) in a derby against Trento (2-3), who bounced back last week with a dramatic victory over Budućnost. The key will be in the backcourt: Darius Brown II, the EuroCup's second-leading assist man, against Marco Spissu's control.

Rest of the Matchday

Tofaş-Neptūnas (Tuesday, 18:00). Tofaş (4-1) looks to solidify their position in group C against Neptūnas (1-4), who have yet to win on the road. Tre'Shawn Thurman versus Henri Drell is the individual matchup that will define the game.

PAOK-Roma Basketball (Tuesday, 19:00). A crucial group D matchup featuring the two most valued players in the competition: Cedi Osman (21.6 points and 24.6 rating) and Nico Mannion (20.2 points and 5.4 assists).

Budućnost-Chemnitz (Tuesday, 19:00). Chemnitz (4-1) arrives with four straight wins and leads the EuroCup in offensive rebounding. Budućnost (2-3) needs to bounce back after losing in the final second in Trento.

Ulm-Bahçeşehir (Tuesday, 19:30). Group D leaders Bahçeşehir (4-1) visit Ulm (3-2), who come off their best win of the season in Panevezys. The matchup between Marquise Reed and Jaylen Sims promises plenty of scoring.

Türk Telekom-Frankfurt (Wednesday, 17:30). Group B's basement dwellers (1-4), with one of the EuroCup's worst offenses, host Frankfurt (3-2), who scored 113 points against Ulm last week.

Zelli-Le Mans (Wednesday, 18:00). Burgos's executioner (3-2) presents center Ody Oguama at home against Le Mans (2-3), who boast the competition's best three-point defense.

Cedevita Olimpija-Tortona (Wednesday, 18:30). Cedevita (0-5) seeks their first win against Derthona (3-2), who have won two straight. This is the first European meeting between the two teams.

Śląsk-Bourg (Wednesday, 19:00). A matchup of struggling teams in group C: both arrive at 1-4.

Bosna-Botevgrad (Wednesday, 19:30). Bosna (2-3), buoyed after beating Roma with 25 points from Reginald Perry, host Botevgrad, who remain winless (0-5) and welcome back Javante McCoy.

Reyer-Šiauliai (Wednesday, 20:00). Reyer (2-3) returns home after two road losses, including the one to La Laguna, against Šiauliai (3-2), who arrive with two straight wins.

Maxima Roma-London Lions (Wednesday, 20:30). London Lions (3-2), with the EuroCup's best defense, visit Maxima Roma, who have lost three of their last four games.
