Darius Thompson Signs with Olimpia Milan

EA7 Emporio Armani Milan has completed the signing of Darius Thompson, who arrives from Valencia Basket and has signed a multi-year contract with the Italian club.

The American point guard, who holds Italian citizenship, returns to a country he knows well after his spell at Brindisi between 2019 and 2021. He now returns to Serie A with an important role in an Olimpia Milan side looking to strengthen their playmaking and regain competitive weight in the EuroLeague.

Thompson comes off a 2025/26 season with Valencia Basket, where he was part of a historic campaign for the orange club, with a Final Four appearance in the EuroLeague. In the top continental competition, he averaged 9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 44 games.

His arrival brings experience, physicality at the point guard position, defensive capability and court vision to lead the team. Thompson is not just a ball handler; he can also play at a good pace, apply pressure on defense and contribute in different aspects of the game.

The player already knows what it takes to stand out at the highest level of European basketball. His best EuroLeague season came with Baskonia, when he was named to the All-EuroLeague Second Team and finished as the tournament's leading assist provider with 6.7 assists per game.

For Milan, his signing represents the addition of a proven point guard with an Italian passport and experience at top-tier teams such as Baskonia, Anadolu Efes and Valencia Basket. A reliable piece for a project that wants to be competitive in Europe again.
