Dorsey Erupts Against Olympiacos as Club Sends Him to Athens

The happiest night of the season for Olympiacos has ended in internal crisis. Two days after mounting a 28-point comeback at the Roig Arena, the club has benched Tyler Dorsey for his social media criticism

The shooting guard will not play Friday at Palau Blaugrana against Barcelona (20:30) and has already returned to Athens by club decision.
Dorsey was merely a spectator during that comeback: he played only five minutes. His response came afterward, when Jaron Blossomgame said on the Triple Threat Show that he was a replaceable player. The shooting guard posted: "If what I do is replaceable, why won't they let me leave right now? Especially if they don't want to pay me; why waste time and create drama? Why is the coaching staff afraid? We'll find out". He added: "My playing time decreased out of nowhere. The truth about how they've treated me here will come out; not everything is what it seems from the outside!".

Montero has taken his spot
The numbers explain the frustration. Last season, Dorsey averaged over 26 minutes per game in the EuroLeague and his minimum was 12 minutes in the final against Real Madrid. This season he's dropped to around 18 minutes, with a constant decline: 27 against Virtus, 17 against Efes and 5 against Valencia. Meanwhile, Jean Montero has gained weight in the rotation, and at the Roig Arena he played 31 minutes and scored 26 points against his former team.
Dorsey, an American naturalized as Greek, is a familiar name to Spanish basketball fans: in the August FIBA windows he scored 29 points against Spain with the Greek national team.
