jun 21 2026ALBA Berlin reached the summit in Germany after an incredible comeback against Bayern Munich. The Berlin side erased a 20-point halftime deficit and won 81-84 in the fifth and decisive Finals game, claiming their 12th league title in history and stopping Bayern's bid for a third consecutive crown.
Justin Bean was the standout performer of the night with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists, a performance that earned him Finals MVP. Jonas Mattisseck also added 18 points, Malte Delow contributed 14 and Jack Kayil emerged in the fourth quarter, where he scored his 10 points to change the course of the game.
Bayern appeared to have the game under control for much of the night. After closing the first quarter with a lead, the Munich team pulled away before halftime, powered by the three-point shooting of Andreas Obst, who finished with 24 points. At the break, the 47-27 scoreline reflected what seemed like a decisive advantage.
But ALBA returned from the locker room with renewed energy. They cut into the deficit in the third quarter and, although Bayern entered the final period still up 13 points, the outcome was completely different. The Berliners opened the fourth quarter with a 0-14 run, took the lead and found in Kayil the decisive player in the crucial minutes.
Bayern had chances to tie late, with Obst looking for the equalizer from beyond the arc, but the shot didn't fall. ALBA held on, completed a memorable comeback and celebrated a title that seemed impossible at halftime.
