According to Chema de Lucas, the white club has shown interest in the Dominican wing due to the complexity of separating Lonnie Walker from Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he still has two more years remaining on his contract.
Quiñones, 25 years old and 1.93 meters tall, is a different profile from Walker, but addresses a clear need: adding physicality, scoring, and outside threat to the wing rotation. Additionally, he has an important factor for the ACB market: he would not occupy a non-EU roster spot due to his Dominican status.
The player has been moving in the NBA sphere during recent seasons. He has passed through the Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans, and Philadelphia 76ers, accumulating experience in a league where he never established himself as a regular piece, but did show scoring ability and energy from the perimeter.
Last season, with the New Orleans Pelicans, he posted 4.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in the NBA. He is also registered by the league itself as a 25-year-old, 1.93 meters tall, 94 kilograms, trained in Memphis.
His possible arrival would make sense as a rotation bet with upside. Quiñones can play shooting guard, has the body to defend physical wings, and can contribute in transition or from three-point range. It would not be a marquee signing like Walker, but rather a more accessible option if Madrid cannot unlock the departure of the Maccabi player.
The move makes one thing clear: Real Madrid remains active in the external market. Walker was the biggest name, but his contract in Israel complicates the operation. Quiñones now appears as a real alternative, less high-profile, but with fit in terms of age, passport, and NBA experience.
