EuroLeague: Juan Carlos Navarro's Barcelona Future in Doubt Following Potential Xavi Pascual Departure

Barcelona could face a summer of major changes in its basketball structure. According to Mundo Deportivo, Juan Carlos Navarro and Mario Fernández are close to leaving the Blaugrana project amid uncertainty surrounding the future of the head coach and sporting director.

The potential departure of both would represent a significant impact within Barcelona's basketball section, as both Navarro and Fernández had played an important role in rebuilding the project and in the return of Xavi Pascual to the Barcelona bench.

The situation becomes even more complicated following reports placing Xavi Pascual very close to Dubai Basketball for the upcoming season. According to Donatas Urbonas at BasketNews, the Catalan coach would have an advanced agreement to become the new head coach of the Emirati club once the 2025-26 season concludes.

Additionally, the coach has an exit clause in his Barcelona contract, a situation that would facilitate a possible departure at the end of the season.

Pascual's potential departure would open a completely new scenario within the Blaugrana club and could trigger a deep restructuring of the section, with Joan Laporta currently analyzing the direction of the project and the team's future stability.

Barcelona's EuroLeague season produced mixed results. The Blaugrana finished ninth in the regular season, advanced to the play-in, and initially managed to overcome Crvena Zvezda, but subsequently fell to AS Monaco and was eliminated from the Playoffs.

Now, the club faces decisive weeks to define the future of its basketball structure and the direction of one of European basketball's most important projects.
