EuroLeague: Olimpia Milano Cautious on Alec Peters After Milutinov Precedent

Alec Peters remains a strong target for Olimpia Milano's next season, but the Italian club is maintaining caution before confirming any moves. The experience with Nikola Milutinov just a year ago has left a clear mark on the Lombard club and fuels doubts about the final outcome of the operation.

For months, Milano has been working on bringing in the American power forward from Olympiacos, a player highly valued for his offensive fit and the level he has shown during recent EuroLeague seasons. However, within the club there is concern that the situation could take an unexpected turn, as happened previously with the Serbian center.

Last summer, Milutinov came very close to leaving the Greek club to head to Italy. Conversations advanced considerably and the agreement seemed to be on track, but the sporting context completely changed the scenario. The Greek league title won by Olympiacos against Panathinaikos, combined with the physical problems suffered by Moustapha Fall, ultimately reinforced the need to keep the Serbian big man in the squad.

Now, in Milan they are watching with some caution how the Peters situation evolves. Information published by Alessandro Maggi points precisely to that concern within the Italian club, aware that any change in Olympiacos' sporting structure could again alter the planned moves.

Beyond the uncertainty, the interest in Peters responds directly to the growth the player has experienced in recent seasons. After Sasha Vezenkov's departure to the NBA, the American took on greater responsibilities within Olympiacos' system and responded with performances of enormous quality, especially in high-stakes scenarios like the Final Four.

His profile fits perfectly into current EuroLeague basketball: constant threat from beyond the arc, intelligence playing off the ball, and the ability to create space from the power forward position. Additionally, many believe he has not yet fully exploded as a primary option within an offensive project built around him.

At Olimpia Milano they believe Peters can become a game-changing piece to make an important competitive leap, although the club knows that, when dealing with Olympiacos and after the Milutinov precedent, they still prefer not to take anything for granted.
