EuroLeague: Valencia Basket Defeats Dubai (95-85), Secures Second Place and Eliminates Emirati Club
Valencia Basket closed out the EuroLeague regular season with an impressive victory, defeating Dubai 95-85, a result that guarantees the orange squad second place in the final standings and eliminates the Emirati team's Play-In hopes.
The team coached by Pedro Martínez extended their winning streak to four consecutive victories and will head into the quarterfinals in excellent competitive form. With a record of 25-13, Valencia now awaits the winner of the Play-In matchup between the seventh and eighth seeds.
Dubai needed to win and also hope for a Barcelona loss to keep their playoff hopes alive, but failed to accomplish even the first condition. The Emirati squad closes the regular season with a 19-19 record and finishes in eleventh place.
Brancou Badio led Valencia's victory with 20 points, while Darius Thompson contributed 13 and Jaime Pradilla added 11. For the opposing team, Dzanan Musa was the standout performer with 21 points and 9 rebounds, accompanied by Davis Bertans with 17 and Filip Petrusev with 10.
The game was tied at halftime, with Dubai leading 47-45 in Aleksandar Sekulic's debut on the bench. However, Valencia completely transformed the game after the break with a dominant third quarter.
The Spanish squad won that quarter 34-20, opened up a double-digit lead, and controlled the final stretch to seal a victory that allows them to finish the regular season in second place, behind only the leader.
