EuroLeague: Valencia Basket Makes Move to Secure Jean Montero

VALENCIA. Valencia Basket has taken the first step to ensure the continuity of Jean Montero, one of the biggest sensations of the 2025/26 EuroLeague season. The orange squad has presented a contract renewal offer to the Dominican point guard following his spectacular season and after becoming EuroLeague Playoffs MVP, leading the historic comeback against Panathinaikos that took the club to its first Final Four.

Jean Montero's growth throughout the season has completely skyrocketed his value in the European market. Although the player already has a contract in place through 2028, Valencia Basket wants to further strengthen its commitment to the Dominican guard by improving his economic conditions and consolidating him as one of the central pieces of Pedro Martínez's project.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the proposal presented by the Valencia club includes a significant salary increase without extending the current contract duration. The offer would raise his salary for the upcoming seasons and would also include a buyout clause in line with his new status in European basketball.

Jean Montero's definitive breakthrough in the EuroLeague has sparked the interest of numerous teams across the continent. The 22-year-old Dominican was not only named Playoffs MVP, but was also selected to the All-EuroLeague Team and won the Rising Star award thanks to his enormous impact throughout the entire season.
