Zalgiris Kaunas wants to orchestrate one of the biggest moves in the European market. The Lithuanian club has presented a strong offer to Jonas Valanciunas to convince the veteran center to return home after more than a decade in the NBA.
According to Krepsinis.net, the proposal would include a guaranteed two-year contract, with an option to extend for a third year, and a salary exceeding €2 million per season.
Zalgiris' interest is total. In Kaunas, they believe Valanciunas could become the cornerstone of the project and one of the most impactful names in the upcoming EuroLeague season.
The Lithuanian international, who will turn 34 on May 6, currently still belongs to the Denver Nuggets, although his situation in the NBA is not yet completely defined.
The American franchise has an option to terminate his contract this summer, which would open the door to a possible exit. Additionally, another scenario that could change his future would be a potential trade during the NBA offseason.
Despite having less playing time this season, Valanciunas has continued to provide solid production and experience in the paint. The big man appeared in 65 regular season games, averaging 8.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in just 13.4 minutes per game, while also shooting a solid 58.2% from the field.
A possible return of Valanciunas would greatly excite Zalgiris fans, who dream of seeing one of the great figures of Lithuanian basketball leading the team in Europe once again.
