FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2026 Lineup Set for Beijing

The FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2026 has confirmed its six participants. The tournament will take place in Beijing from September 22-27, marking the first edition in China after three consecutive years in Singapore. FIBA also confirmed Beijing will host the tournament through 2028.

The format follows the standard structure of recent years: two groups of three teams, semifinals, and finals. The group stage will run from September 22-24, followed by a rest day, with semifinals on September 26. The final is scheduled for September 27.

Group A features Rytas Vilnius, Basketball Champions League champions; Shanghai Sharks, Chinese champions; and RSSB Tigers, Basketball Africa League champions.

Group B includes Boca Juniors, Basketball Champions League Americas champions; Beijing Royal Fighters, as the host team; and NBA G League United, returning to the competition after reaching the finals in the last two editions.

The interesting note is that NBA G League United will be the only team with previous tournament experience. Rytas, Shanghai, RSSB Tigers, Beijing Royal Fighters, and Boca Juniors will make their debuts in a competition that reunites champions from different continents and a representative from the NBA ecosystem.

Unicaja, winner of the last two editions, will not be competing to defend its title this time. In 2023, the champion was Sesi Franca. The Intercontinental Cup is changing venues, changing its European champion, and opening a new chapter in Beijing.
