Fuenlabrada Extends Winning Streak to Five with Victory Over Ourense (78-71)

A month after their last home game, Flexicar Fuenlabrada returned to the Fernando Martín to play the postponed matchday 11 contest against Club Ourense Baloncesto.

Both teams had faced each other in the previous matchday, but in Ourense. In that encounter, Iñaki Martín's side took the victory, though it was a hard-fought one. They had many turnovers, but managed to secure the away win in the fourth quarter with strong defense and an excellent performance from Iván Aurrecoechea, who was unable to play today because he was not registered for matchday 11.

Iñaki Martín's team started with intensity, building a 7-0 run. Two quick three-pointers from Ourense brought Moncho López's team back into the game after a difficult start. Despite this, the home side maintained their advantage with Benite leading (8 points). Several turnovers from Fuenlabrada resulted in easy transition baskets for Ourense, who finished the quarter ahead (23-27) with a strong performance from Isaac Vázquez.

The second quarter began poorly for the home team (1-6), but they recovered after Paul Rigot broke the cold streak. The rest of the period saw constant back-and-forth scoring between both teams, maintaining a 4-point gap. The atmosphere at Fernando Martín was tense, with the crowd protesting the referees' decisions. In the final minutes of the first half, Moncho López's team began to pull away following several controversial calls and a scoring drought for the home side. Both teams headed to the locker room with a score of 36-46.

Fuenlabrada came out with fresh legs after halftime and quickly cut into the deficit. Iñaki Martín's team maintained their intensity, led by Dani Manchón, who hit a three-pointer to make it 51-52. Two quick transitions from Moncho's team extended the lead again, but Fuenlabrada answered with solid defense and Benite tied it at 57-57 with a three-pointer. The quarter ended 60-61.

Both teams maintained their energy in the fourth quarter. Fuenlabrada took the lead for the first time since the opening quarter, and once they got ahead, they didn't relinquish it. Flexicar Fuenlabrada reasserted their home dominance and held on for a 78-71 victory.

Despite extending their winning streak to five consecutive victories, the Flexicar Fuenlabrada players couldn't celebrate much, as they had to begin preparing for their matchup against Tizona Burgos this Saturday, February 7.
