According to reports from Rupert Fabig, Kayil has reached a long-term agreement with the Berlin club. The move resolves a complex situation, as his rights for next season belonged to Mega, while ALBA wanted to retain him and the Knicks preferred to keep him as a future prospect without adding him to their roster yet.
The move aligns with a well-known NBA formula: draft-and-stash. New York retains his rights, but the player continues competing in Europe, with minutes and responsibility, rather than already occupying a roster spot.
