MoraBanc Andorra has signed James Akinjo as a new player for the 2026/2027 season. The 25-year-old American point guard, standing 1.85 meters tall, has signed a one-year contract to bolster the team's playmaking and will make his Liga Endesa debut this year.
After a standout college basketball career in the United States, Akinjo began his professional career in the NBA G League, where he continued his development before making the jump to European basketball. A physically strong and intense point guard with excellent playmaking ability, he combines elite-level defense with the capacity to create offensive advantages. Last season he played for Israeli club Ironi Ness Ziona in his first experience outside the United States, and now he faces the challenge of making his Liga Endesa debut with MoraBanc Andorra.
MoraBanc Andorra's sports director Jordi Ardèvol commented on the signing: "James Akinjo is a physically strong point guard with great competitive drive who will take on the challenge of debuting in Liga Endesa after his first European basketball experience last season in Israel. He's a player who has always stood out for his defensive level, thanks to his physicality, intensity and energy on the court, but also for his playmaking ability. In the G League he posted impressive assist numbers and was a recognized player in the league, even competing in the All-Star Game and consistently staying close to NBA consideration. Additionally, he's a point guard with the tools to finish around the rim, and we're confident he'll help us raise our competitive level."
