Jaworski Wins Game with 0.6 Seconds Left as Casademont Debuts in Tenerife (80-81)

With ten seconds remaining and Casademont trailing, Roberts Blumbergs blocked a shot and grabbed the rebound. The ball reached Justin Jaworski, who drove, stepped back, and scored. 0.6 seconds on the clock and 80-81 at Santiago Martín.

A first half shootout
The game started wide open. Trae Bell-Haynes opened with two consecutive three-pointers and Casademont established control, while Kyle Guy and Ethan Happ kept the home team in it. Blumbergs appeared early, cutting inside and punishing from beyond the arc, and Caleb Homesley joined in from the perimeter.
The first quarter closed 18-18, with a revealing stat: Casademont was 4 of 10 from three and Tenerife 1 of 7, yet they were tied.

The second quarter featured back-and-forth play until an overly loose three-pointer from Fitipaldo prompted Gonzalo García de Vitoria to call timeout with the score at 31-25. It worked.

Blumbergs added from the free throw line and with a dunk, Homesley heated up and Jaworski made his three-point debut to flip the scoreboard (33-38).
The end of the first half belonged to Guillem Vives: after an inbound pass, he received from Blumbergs and nailed a three from deep range for 38-44 at halftime.

The collapse
The second half started at the same pace and Casademont continued leading. Two more three-pointers and a penetration from Bell-Haynes put it at 53-58, and then Blumbergs and Laurynas Birutis stretched the lead to 55-65.
Up ten, possession, and the clock in their favor. And then it all fell apart.
Two turnovers from Homesley gave life to López-Arostegui and Happ, the timeout didn't work this time and a corner three from local Jaime Fernández left the third quarter at 65-68. From up ten to the opponent breathing down their neck.

Five minutes without scoring
The final period started erratic on both sides until Guy, Happ and Fitipaldo flipped the scoreboard (70-69).
From there, Casademont's worst stretch. An inadvertent elbow from Abromaitis sent Blumbergs to the bench with ice on his eye, Nico Brussino fouled out and the team scored just one point in nearly five minutes, while López-Arostegui led Tenerife to 74-69.

The resurrection
Then Jaworski appeared. Two three-pointers from him compressed the score to 76-75, Bell-Haynes tied it from the line and Vives, once again, nailed another three for 76-79 with two and a half minutes remaining.
The final minute was an exchange. Marcelinho Huertas cut it from the free throw line and Abromaitis, after an offensive rebound, restored the home advantage with forty seconds left (80-79).
And came the final possession. With ten seconds to play, Blumbergs—back on the court—blocked and captured the rebound. The ball went to Jaworski, who scored for 80-81. Jaka Lakovic called timeout, but with 0.6 seconds left there was nothing more.

The numbers
Casademont shot 15 of 34 from three-point range, which is the statistical explanation for the victory.
