Dominican shooting guard Jean Montero has departed Valencia Basket after the club paid out the full amount of the buyout clause in his contract, concluding his two-year stint with the Valencia side during which he contributed to the team's Liga Endesa and Supercopa Endesa championship wins.
The club wishes to thank Jean for his professionalism, commitment, and work during his time representing Valencia Basket colors, and wishes him the best in his future, both professionally and personally.
The player joined the first team from MoraBanc Andorra in the summer of 2024 and appeared in a total of 131 games wearing a Valencia Basket jersey. In his first season, which marked his EuroCup debut, Jean averaged 15.1 points on 34.4% from three-point range, 3.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 steals for 17.9 efficiency rating per game. During the 2024-25 campaign, he became the first player to win the Liga Endesa Best Young Player award in three consecutive seasons, and was also named to the Liga Endesa All-Star Five. In European competition, he was selected for the EuroCup All-Star Five and named EuroCup Rising Star.
In his second season, Montero was unable to contribute to the Supercopa Endesa triumph due to a hand injury, but proved instrumental in securing the club's best-ever EuroLeague finish and capturing a second Liga Endesa title. In 75 games played during the 2025-26 campaign, Jean recorded 15.2 points on 36.2% from three-point range, 2.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 steals for 18.4 efficiency rating.
During the 2025-26 season, Montero continued to add to his individual accolades by being named to the EuroLeague All-Star Five, earning EuroLeague Playoffs MVP honors, and receiving the EuroLeague Rising Star designation. In the Liga Endesa, he was again selected to the All-Star Five and named MVP of the Finals Playoffs, which concluded with Valencia's second ACB title.
