Crvena Zvezda continues making aggressive moves in the transfer market, announcing the signing of Johnathan Motley on a multi-year contract. The American center arrives from Hapoel Tel Aviv and becomes another major reinforcement for Ibon Navarro's new project.
Motley, 31 years old and 2.06 meters tall, will bring physicality, scoring near the basket, and European experience. Last season he played a more secondary role at Hapoel, averaging 8.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, but maintained excellent efficiency: 65.4% on two-pointers and 48.8% on three-pointers.
His best recent form came a year earlier, when he was one of the standout players for the Hapoel team that won the EuroCup 2025. In that competition he averaged 16.7 points and 4.8 rebounds, was named to the All-Star Five, and was ultimately selected as Finals MVP.
The signing also adds EuroLeague experience to the Serbian club. Motley has already competed in the competition with Fenerbahce, the club with which he reached the 2024 Final Four, and will now experience his third stint in Europe's top competition.
With his arrival, Crvena Zvezda adds another important name after also bringing in Chris Jones and David Kramer, in addition to renewing Jared Butler and Dejan Davidovac. An ambitious project, with more physicality, interior scoring, and experience to compete from day one.
