American shooting guard Kyle Guy will return to wear the black and gold jersey after reaching an agreement with La Laguna Tenerife for the next two seasons
He's back! La Laguna Tenerife has secured the services of shooting guard Kyle Guy for the next two seasons. The American player will thus begin a second stint with the Canary Islands team, whose colors he already defended in the second half of the 2023/24 season, playing an important role in the achievements accomplished by the island club that campaign: BCL runners-up, Copa del Rey semifinalists, and Liga Endesa quarterfinalists after finishing sixth in the regular season.
During his time on the island, Guy (Indiana, 8/11/97) averaged 14.7 points and 2.1 assists in the 19 ACB games he played; in addition to posting averages of 21.5 points and 2.7 assists in the eleven Basketball Champions League games he played.
A 1.88m shooting guard, Kyle was developed at the University of Virginia, where he became an NCAA champion and was named the tournament's 'Most Outstanding Player' in 2019. After concluding his college career, where he accumulated final averages of 12.5 points with a 42.5% three-point percentage, he played both in the NBA (53 games between the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat), and in the G-League (he played for the Stockton Kings, Cleveland Charge, and Sioux Falls Skyforce), before making the jump to Europe.
In his first year on the Old Continent, with Joventut Badalona in 2022/23, he played a total of 40 ACB games, in which he averaged 12.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, before signing in the summer of 2023 with Greek Panathinaikos and joining CB Canarias in January 2024, where he accumulated the aforementioned achievements.
After his stint with the Tenerife team, Kyle chose to take a break from his playing career to serve as assistant coach with the University of Virginia Cavaliers, until he returned to the court last year, first to play for the Noblesville Boom, an NBA G-League franchise affiliated with the Indiana Pacers; and then to play in the Chinese league, specifically with the Shanxi Loongs. Along the way, he also played for the United States national team in FIBA windows; and finished the season competing in the FIBA 3×3 worldwide circuit.
