Lakers Maintain Commitment to Bronny James Despite LeBron's Departure

The Los Angeles Lakers are counting on Bronny James for the 2026/27 season despite LeBron James' recent exit from the franchise. According to The Athletic, the team has no intention of trading the young wing and sees him as part of JJ Redick's roster for next season.

The decision carries weight because Bronny arrived at the Lakers in 2024 in a context closely tied to his father's presence. However, LeBron's departure does not change, at least for now, the club's plans with the player.

The Lakers had already guaranteed him his $2.3 million contract in early June, a sign of confidence even before LeBron's future was clarified.

Bronny, selected with the 55th pick in the 2024 Draft, played 42 official games last season, averaging 2.9 points and 1.2 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per game.

He won't arrive with an easy role. He'll have to fight for minutes in a wing rotation that includes names like Collin Sexton, Cameron Carr, and Jaden Hardy. But within the Lakers, they value his work, his development, and his fit in the locker room.
