jun 30 2026The Oklahoma City Thunder have exercised their $17.7 million team option on Lu Dort, ensuring the Canadian wing's continuity through the 2026-27 season, according to Shams Charania (ESPN).
The decision allows the Thunder to retain one of their defensive specialists and one of the longest-tenured players in the franchise, a key piece for his intensity and ability to defend the opposition's best perimeter players.
The 27-year-old Dort appeared in 69 games during the 2025-26 season, all as a starter, averaging 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.9 steals in 26.8 minutes per game. He shot 38.5% from the field, 34.4% from three-point range and 75.9% from the free throw line.
Although his offensive numbers declined compared to previous seasons, Dort continued to play a fundamental role in Mark Daigneault's system thanks to his perimeter defense and ability to take on the most demanding matchups.
